The Yorkshire Maharlika Filipino Club was organized by its founder Lolita D. Boddy in December 1999. Maharlika was created to bring together the growing number of Filipino immigrants and to help establish and maintain ties with one another through social activities and events that promote awareness of the rich history and culture of the Philippines. Moreover YMFC was envisioned to be a beehive of charitable activities to help the poor, the needy and the afflicted in our midst. Since its creation we have already contributed to various charity organizations in the UK and abroad.

The Maharlika motto is “Charity in action.” The Marharlika logo is a beehive surrounded by the Maharlika motto. The beehive is an emblem of industry, and recommends the practice of that virtue to all created beings. The bee works hard not for himself but for the swarm.

Yorkshire Barrio Fiesta (The Story Behind It)

YMFC commonly known as "Maharlika" staged its first Barrio Fiesta on 06 July 2008 at the beautiful countryside of Roundhay Park, Leeds.

The event was a huge success despite the threat of cancelling it due to over forecast.

The organizers hailed that the success of the event is due in no small part to the dedication and committment of numerous parents, children, filipino community leaders from in and around Yorkshire and beyond.

Nearly 600 filipinos and visitors took part in the event. The event attracted 26 stallholders around the UK.

I would like to thank personally all those Filipino community leaders and members from different areas who have supported us, to all our generous stallholders (please support them in any way), to all parents and children who participated in the Santacruzan parade (well done, you all look gorgeous!), to those who shared their talents, and of course to BFAB of Bradford for giving us hands. To all Maharlika Members and volunteers for their untiring support and committment. Special thanks to Shaun Gregory and his team for their valuable management contributions ( I've learned so much!).

Hopefully this will be the first of many fiesta to be staged at Roundhay Park.

As we now all know, the Philippine Centre Barrio Fiesta will now finally go ahead on 13th and 14th September at Lampton Park, Hounslow. The organizers have now finallly confirmed that the council have now given them full permission.

Hi, thank you for all your effort to make that filipino festival a great day for everyone despite the rains! we all enjoyed it especially my little one, abby. Although she almost lost her moods joining the parade coz she become tired and becoz of rain, she still enjoyed it and was very chatty telling everyone that she been a queen in santacruzan, though i think she have no idea what santacruzan is. me and my partner enjoyed the foods and my sister bought all the foods that she saw hahaha lahat kami nagenjoy sayang nga lang at umulan, but hopefully we will do

it again next year. i enclosed some of the pics for you, we will all be delighted if you can put it in your website as my kids and their friends joined the site and they are all excited to see it and forward the site to their friends and relatives back in Philippines and in Canada, Greece and Italy where some of their friends/former classmates are now living, they think its good to let them know about the Filipino community here in england. we are very proud of it, i wish the success of maharlika foundation, let me know kung makakatulong ako, as long as i have time it will be my pleasure to help.

Leeds first barrio fiesta a BIG success!

The City of Leeds held its first ever Filipino Barrio Fiesta last Sunday the 6th of July 2008. The event, held in Roundhay Park, saw the Filipino community from all over the country get together for a day of dancing, singing and lots of tsibugan (feasting).

Barrio Fiesta is a Spanish words literally means “District or Town Festival”. It was one of the many cultures handed down by the Spaniard during their 3 centuries reign in the Philippines.

Filipino children from all over Leeds performed a variety of singing and dancing, including a ballet show and a Polynesian dance. Other Filipinos came to perform as well, Blackpool Filipino... (read more)

Barrio Feista Teaser

With 3 weeks more to go, parents and organizers are busy preparing for the much awaited Filipino Barrio Fiesta to be held in Leeds. In the event, a group of British-Filipino toddlers and youths will take part in the festival’s cultural show.

YMFC was in St Nicholas Hall last Saturday to witness their excitement and enthusiasms as they practiced their dance steps. Their was a group of teenagers in the corner practicing a lively dance to a ‘Hip-Hop’ beat, while cute cuddly little girls in Hawaiian-customs dancing ‘Hula’ on the other corner of the

Hall. Outside, another group all dressed in traditional Filipino costumes lining up for a dress rehearsal.

try Googling 'online photo resizer'. There are loads of online photo resize in the internet, where you can change the size on your photo, choose 600px or below.

In Paint click the Image Button & choose the Strecth/Skew in the dropdown menu & edit the size of your pictures. hope it solve your problems.
